E-WorldArtMedia.com: The Media Art Journal

E-WorldArtMedia sponsored and/or promoted several different art showings and galleries over the course of several years. The last show that it sponsored was called “Caymanian in New York,” which was an exhibition by artists Alta and Gordon Solomon. The exhibition was showcased from February 15th to February 28th of 2009, with a special opening reception held on February 19th of the same year. The exhibit was a thrilling mixture of photography, sculpture, and paintings by the two artists, who sought to fully represent the Cayman Islands with their work. The two artists were also skilled, professional musicians and, as such, also showcased the design for the latest album, titled “Lamb and Lion,” at the event. The vast array of different types of art on display was truly amazing. Most noted by the press were figurative carvings made from tree roots from the Islands, art involving the use of swords and “heads,” all part of a series called “Art of War.” Abstract paintings, impressionist paintings, and more were also on display.

Alta and Gordon were both youth community workers with a non-profit organization known as NCVO. Alta, specifically, was known for her photography, which won her first place in a contest held by the Cayman National Cultural Foundation. She herself is from Grand Cayman, as does Gordon. The hopes of the two were to capture the little known culture and beauty of the people of the Cayman Islands with the art series.

Gordon was an art teacher with Cayman Islands National Gallery education program and with The University College of the Cayman Islands. Additionally, he gave private lessons and was known for painting very large murals in his native land.

The exhibition was definitely a way to go out with a bang for E-WorldArtMedia and will not soon be forgotten. In fact, art critics and fans alike are still buzzing about it, over two years later.
